I see the salaries of all our software engineers... including the H1B visas


We're not paying them any less than the non-H1Bs. And in order to get the H1B visa approved, you have to actually show your comparable salary data to prove that you're not paying them less. The average salaries of H1Bs at tech companies, which are high and very much in line with average salaries of software engineers in general, bears that out.

Plus you have the fact that the unemployment rate for software engineers is 2%. If you're a software engineer and you think you're out of work "because of H1B visas", you're kidding yourself.
